Swirls on a Layout

Hello Urban Lily Fans ! It's Aida here back again with a layout I hope you will like.

The swirl in the layout was inspired by the dance costume my daughter wore which had which has a similar deisgn of silver sequins in the front. As far as scrappy products go, there are multitudes of swirls in blings or pearls in many colors and styles which you could use. For this layout, I chose to draw swirls using a Tattered Angel's template and add color with mists.

First I sprayed a pale orange mist lightly and then I arranged the template on the cardstock. Spritz a little more pale orange over the template and add droplets of gold and dark green mists. To create the droplets - unscrew the nozzle of the bottle (some of the mist would already be in the tube that feeds the mist into the spray nozzle), hold the nozzle upright and gently shake it over the area you would like the droplets on. Colored liquid in the tube will fall off in small droplets on to the paper below. Practise on a piece of old newpaper to check the effect before attempting it on your layout.

After gently drying the misted cardstock with a heat gun, I used a fine tip black pen to outline the swirl design to make it more obvious.

This is how it looks up close :

The swirl design was trimmed to the needed size and added to the layout. That's it, really easy !

Two Pages by Polinka

here is Polinka, with another couple of layouts about my parents...

A DEUX

I absolutely love these 2 pictures of my parents, and this paper was a perfect match to the 70's style (from my point of view ;) )

I simply cut some of the designs to complete the background, as well as the cute flowers and birds chipboards...

Supplies:

Sassy by Urban Lily - Mayella Collection

Helmar Adhesive Runner

Buzz and Bloom Chipboards

Blue acrylic paint

good precision scissors

VIVRE PLEINEMENT...

Another older picture of my mother with her friends...
As the picture is already full of people, I thought it would be better to keep a simple design for the page. I chose this light yellow and orange background and just added some masking tape and stamps...

Supplies:

Honey by Urban Lily - Sugary Collection

Helmar Adhesive Runner

Stamps for the title and decos & Black ink

Masking tape

Hope you're enjoying all the projects on the blog so far :)

Plus glitter

Hello!I'm Akiko. I introduce a 12-inch layout today. I love glitter. Then, it used, having added glitter to this layout. Here is my layout.

Supplies:
Lily - Lulliloo Collection
Number - Urban Cut Collection
Alphabet - Urban Cut Collection
Mini Book Bright - Urban Cut Collection
Answer It Chipboard
Memory Photocards - Posh

other - cardstock,glitter,ribbon

I used silver glitter, in order to give impact to a work. I recommend you the pen type which can be used easily.

These are bordered around the title. And it is the point to border it more thickly. The title was able to be highlighted more by bordering.

A feeling of unification can be given to a work by using glitter for other portions.

Thank you for stopping at this blog! Have a great weekend:)

End of the School Year Celebrations

At my son's school they have a Showcase of the talents of the students at the end of the school year. Since he was just in Kindergarten this year, we did not realize what a big deal the event was and we were so proud of his contribution. For today's Urban Lily inspiration, I have created two pages of my son's school Showcase.

For the first page I used:
California Collection Pink Flamingo
May Ella Impish
Urban Cut Alphabet
Mooch Hyperactive
Mooch Smooch
I cut alot of the elements out from the paper and backed the Pink Flamingo with the super awesome striped Impish paper. My son is easy to spot in the photos as he was the only one wearing a yellow shirt!

For the second page, I carried the circle theme over by using semi-circles cut from the patterned paper. I've used:
Happy Everything Celebrate
Photocards Polka Dot
Mooch Hyperactive
Happy Everything Forever
The title was already on the paper and I thought it was appropriate for a page about my son's art work that was posted on the wall. His art was too high up to be included in the photo, so I've added journaling to the Photocards. The top card lifts up to reveal more private journaling underneath. I've stitched the cards in place.

Other than the stitching, both of these pages were created using the super fantastic Helmar adhesives.
That's it for me today. I hope you'll be able to find ways to use Urban Lily papers for your education themed pages!

Board Books

Have you seen and/or used the Lush Board Books by Urban Lily? Well, let me tell you that these board books are little gems of beauty and goodness. I was torn between dressing up each page and letting the beauty of the page enhance my photo. In the end, I let the gorgeous flourishes and bold colours of each album page complement my photo.

Here is my board board that my daughters and I created for Father's Day. My husband loved the book...and if truth be told, my girls loved the "secret" pocket pages too!

And here is an excerpt of the inside pages...we love the pull out pocket the best. I love seeing the girls' handwriting on the pages...and you can also sneak a gift certificate in the pocket as well.

Secret Keeper Cards

Hello everyone! Today's host is Akiko. I made the card given to a cousinly daughter using Secret Keeper Cards. She became 3 years old this month! Happy Biethday To Miyu!!
Supplies:
Secret Keeper Cards - Vanilla
Ink - Blink Collection
Love Seals Rub-ons
Mini Book Bright - Urban Cut Collection
Linen Stripe - Everyday Lily Collection
Polo - Blink Collection
other - brads

Present seasonal Japan is a rainy season. And the hydrangea is very finely in bloom. It is the card which imagined and was made from the hydrangea.

These are using four papers cut for 1 inch around. And the angle is omitted by craft punch. These have stopped the center by brads.

I stuck the photograph of Miyu and a hydrangea into the hidden page. She will surely be pleased with this card.

Thank you for your stopping at this blog!See you next week:)

Jewelry Showcase

Today I have a home decor item for you that I made for my grandmother. My grandmother collects vintage and reproduction brooches. I wanted her to have a way to display these pieces so that she can enjoy them rather than have them sit in a jewelry box.

To create the showcase, I used Sushi Stripe and Sushi from the Everyday Lily Collection. I purchased a frame from the dollar store and covered the cardboard backing with the Sushi stripe paper using Helmar dry adhesive.

I then covered the wooden frame with the Sushi paper using the Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue, carefully cutting around the flowers on the paper so that they would protrude into the open frame space.

Put together, they already make an attractive project

But, I wanted to make a way for my grandma to display her jewelry. So, I knit this pattern to stretch over the top of the patterned paper.

After washing and blocking the knit lace background, I glued it to the striped paper and put it in the frame.

I am not someone who has alot of jewelry but I did find this brooch that I had from when I worked at a retirement community and was required to wear something for special occassions to show how the piece works. Now my grandma has an attractive way to display her beautiful pieces of jewelry.

fun favors and a layout.

Happy Tuesday, to all you Swanky fans! It's Sarah, here.

Today, I thought it would be fun to share a couple of projects that I have recently created.

First up, I made these cute little bags that work well as favors. You can fill them with anything from chocolates to cookies. The possibility is endless.

I punched two holes at the top of the favor bag, and then I threaded some ribbon through to make bows. The bows will help prevent from any of the inside contents to fall out.

I also wanted to share a layout I created using a couple sheets of patterned papers.

Aren't the colors to this phenomenal?! I cut out some of the flowers on one of the patterned papers, and I used them as embellishments.

What do you think?! Pretty stuff, huh?!

I know I say this every time I post, but I truly mean it when I say that the papers speak for themselves. :)

Happy Tuesday!

hugs,
sarah.

Beautiful Dancer

Hello and it's Aida back again ! I love dance and am a huge fan of Ballet. My youngest daughter Nura recently had her dance class Open House for parents and we got the chance to see the class perform their routines as well as an explanation of the how the class has progressed and the ability level they are expected to be at by next year. Of course for proud parents, it was the chance to snap lots of photos !

The layout below features my daughter's friend Glynis and they've been in the same class since four years old.

It's a fairly simple design and one I hope shows how beautiful classical ballet is when executed by a graceful dancer.

The Urban Lily products used are :

Spark - Mooch Collection

Apple - Sugary collection

Thanks for stopping by !

Brrr... it's cold!

Ok, ok... we are in June and here in Italy it's not cold at all ;-), but I scrapped this pic, showing my friend Silvia and her boyfriend on vacation in England in August, and... they were freezing!

Urban Lily supplies:

Mini Book B&W - Urban Cut collection

Hyperactive paper - Mooch collection

Blackout - Blink collection

This flower was actually a journaling spot, cut out from the Mini Book B&W... I glued on it a circle of paper (cut out from the Hyperactive paper), and I glued the flower to the page with a wire (to add a 3D effect)... I love how it turned out :-).

'Till next time :-),
